A Jouney of Faith
(RCIA) Rites of Christian Initiation
Jesus has given us the command to share the Good News of salvation!
We have the privilege of working in a ministry to assist those (both previously baptized and those not baptized) who are interested in the Roman Catholic Faith. Dubbed the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), after the ritual book that is
used, this process begins with a time of asking questions and seeking information about our faith community.
Those who ask to be formally accepted continue to meet with catechists (parishioners who volunteer to lead the group) for more in-depth faith sharing based on the Sunday Scripture readings.
Those who seek the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Eucharist) generally participate in these Sacraments at the Easter Vigil.
Although those participating in the RCIA process meet weekly
(in the Fall on Tuesdays; and December through Easter on Sundays with some Tuesdays), parishioners who wish to assist are not required to be there each week.
Willingness to share your faith and to support those who are asking questions and discerning the Grace of God in their life is what is necessary.
