K Acts of Kindness

Inspired by a sermon from Msgr. Mike, the Kindergarten Class at SJA decided they wanted to come up with some "random acts of kindness."

First on our list was to share some kindness with our school friends. We shared cookies and cards with all of the children in our school and our friends in the rectory. We wanted to share random acts of kindness with our community so we had a food drive and the children collected canned goods for St. Vincent DePaul. We felt like we should spread those acts of kindness a little further into our community and we began to collect money to buy toys for Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. Slowly but surely the pennies, nickels, and dimes rolled in. They brought in their money from the Tooth Fairy, birthday presents, as well as money they earned by doing special chores at home for Mom and Dad. We shopped for the children and the children were so excited to see the fruits of their labor. We wanted to do something to be "kind" to our earth and so we cleaned the school yard of trash. Finally we wanted to urge other schools to do the same so we sent Balloon Bouquets and cards to neighboring schools challenging them to do the same and "PASS IT ON."

When we first began this mission, one of the children asked, "What can we do, we are just little kids?" And Holly Graves stood up and said, "We can do anything we try to do!" Well said Holly!

They did just that! What a difference they made! If 18 five year olds can be moved to make a difference, it makes you wonder what the rest of us could do!

Just wanted to share the photos and the story! I am proud beyond words of these little ones! Just wanted to "Pass it on!"

Have a great day!
